On Oct. 4, 2019, a group of students met up to make posters and march across the University of Maryland to raise awareness of sexual assault on college campuses as a part of on-campus organization Preventing Sexual Assault’s Slut Walk.
“Too many times perpetrators are just given a slap on the wrist,” President Sophia Blake said during her opening speech before the walk began. “We are here for survivors and for advocates who want an opportunity to share their voice.”
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and this was a preliminary walk for PSA as they prepared to march at the Supreme Court in Washington, D.C. on Sunday, Oct. 6, 2019, to protest Justice Brett Kavanaugh who was accused of sexual assault in 2018.
“I cannot be more proud of this organization,” Blake said as she prepared to lead the crowd in their march.
